I have a galaxy s2 virgin I was wondering if there is a way to safely apply the update without messing up my phone I heard if you update you will lose root

Most anytime you update via OTA, you'll definitely lose root and need to re root.
With Sammy devices (long time htc user), still don't think there is a way to take it without losing root.
