I have decided to take the plunge and root my VM HTC Wildfire S this week. I've never done anything like this before so have been researching threads here and in other forums to make sure I have a pretty clear idea of what I need to do. Yes, I am a pretty pure noob.
But I think the more I read - the more confused I get. My "son" (like a son, but I didn't birth him) has advised me to take my time and set aside a clean block of time where I won't be disturbed to make sure I don't miss something and wreck my phone.
I am wondering though - is there anyplace - either here or in another forum - that has the most up-to-date info?
My goal in rooting is to be able to get rid of bloatware, make my phone believe that my SD card is the main source of memory for the phone and maybe even speed things up a bit. From what I've read I believe I will need a ROM too - and that's one of the more confusing things for me - which one?
I guess if there really isn't an updated list anywhere - could someone just tell me everything I will need to get my desired outcome? ie - S-off, root, back-up, new rom?
