Help updated to 4.3 and want radio from 4.2.2

rooted and want to 'roll back' radio modem to 4.2.2....i have a set up where i tether my S4 to a special router to broadcast my unlimited 4G LTE!!!

problem is i accepted the update for 4.3 and found out the radio modem in 4.3 cannot 'talk' to the router via usb tether???

the router is no longer supported...so the only only option i have is to get the 4.2.2 radio modem back on my phone....many have said rolling back is not possible as of yet..however, anyone know a way to use a prior OS radio modem(4.2.2) with a different OS (4.3 or 4.4.2)?

the best solution for me would be to 'roll back' to 4.2.2...IF someone figures out how P L E A S E let me know!! i would be VERY grateful!

The radio has nothing to do with USB. You're missing something here. Theradio in the phone doesn't talk to anything via USB - you may have some app that does.

If you want to tether via wifi, any tether app will do, you don't need a physical router. (A tethering program is the router part of "a router".) If you want to tether via Ethernet (which is what the switch in "a router" allows you to do (the box commonly referred to as "a router" is a wireless access point, router and switch in one box, it's not just a router), therre are many ways to do it with many different "routers". If you want to tether via USB, you're doing it wrong.

Oh, and flashing a 4.2.2 radio to a 4.3 phone? The amount of damage you'll do depends on the carrier (because of the way they have things set up). If it's AT&T or Verizon, you'll probably end up with a useless plastic box. You'll definitely trip the Knox flag, so forget about any warranty work (or, for that matter, any work by any reputable shop).

Rolling back to 4.2.2 might be possible - if it's not Verizon or AT&T. Look on SamMobile Firmwares for your model of S4. No guaranties that you won't hard brick the phone, though, so make sure you have a hard brick boot SD already set up, and a way to flash 4.3 back. You're probably trying to balance an elephant on the point of a pin, but if you're really lucky you might pull it off.

Me? I'd look for a way to achieve the end result you want without risking the phone. What's wrong with just rooting (with a clear path to unroot if necessary) and a tethering app?

i guess all the time i've spent in all the different forums had me a little confused..lol.

i have 2 Samsung Galaxy S4's through Sprint.

they came with 4.2.2 and i bought 2 of the $400 cradlepointe routers to use to broadcast my unlimited LTE. the router have a range of 750 feet (commercial grade?) <-- was told they are really good b/c they are designed to push the signal through metal enclosures/block walls/etc....i just wanted the wifi signal off my phone through the router to be accessible anywhere on our property with a nice strong signal.

hence the idea to use the expensive router....since the router no longer has support from cradlepoint(due to all the controversy of 3G/4G set ups like mine) ...i have no way to modify the router's firmware to work with the new update on my S4.

i still have one of my S4's that is still running on 4.2.2 and it is smooth and fast! i can easily plug the usb into the router and voila! LTE heaven!!! It's also a nice benefit that the phone charges while it's tethered for streaming and such.

the other S4 i took the 4.3 update on,stopped being able to usb tether with the router??? the usb tether just blips to a subdued status on the phone and says "no usb device connected"....last forum i was in, i was told i needed to get the 'baseband modem/radio' from 4.2.2 and my S4 would be able to 'talk' to the router through usb.

im not a huge techy but im pretty intelligent and take direction well.

i just want my phone to be able to connect to the routers i've invested nearly $1000 in so that i can stream and charge simultaneously(hotspot on my phone is good; however range is not - hence the router to strengthen that signal over a large area)

if you can help i would be indebted to you!

EDIT: the big picture for this setup is that i am able to get rid of the home internet/phone/cable saving my family around $2500 year! getting it to work again is a BIG DEAL for me. just sick of paying these companies so much for something i already have through my phone-unlimited. thanks again.
