Help updating firmware?

I've connected to kies and it says a new version is available I press upate I click accept ect and it looks like its updating then when I reconnect to kies it says the same. telling me I have

You have -- (Firmware) PDA:KE7 ..........
The latest -- (Firmware) PDA:KF3 .........

Why wont it update can I fix it or will I have to update it a different way?

Kies can be flaky, so alot of SGS2 owners use a software called "Odin" to flash firmware instead.

This is probably a really stupid question but I'll ask anyway. Do you download the update for the appropriate country you're in? For instance I have a UK-bought phone but I live in Australia, so do I download and update the XWKF3 firmware titled XSA Australia? Many thanks

You have -- (Firmware) PDA:KE7 ..........
The latest -- (Firmware) PDA:KF3 .........

When is press upgrade it says

Insufficient disk space, requires 3000 mb of space.

I have 16gb inbuilt memory.

Please advice what to do?

Delete some files!
 
well I only hav 3 gb of songs. rest of the space is free. Infact i have purchased a memory card also with 8 gb. still its showing the same message.
 
I want to use Odin to update my phone. I'm a bit scared though. Is ZSKG2 the latest version? 2.3.4 ? Don't want to mess up.

There's a huge amount of info (including detailed instructions and a developer who gladly responds to questions) at the link I posted earlier in this thread.
 
another message ive been getting recently is somehting along the lines of


(we're sorry for the problem we will have a update fixed in a few hours"

I got this message and it was because i didn't have enough space on my PC. Once i deleted some files the message didn't appear.

MadGeorge, I am also getting the "sorry for the problem" message. "Soupdragon" also posted about it on October 3rd under "Sorry for the problem - announcement message." Please update and let me know if you have fixed the problem or identified the source.
