Help Updating gone wrong

After attempting to backup the phone, there as an error. So I tried to install an update instead. This went wrong too. Wtf?

Now, when I want to start up, I see "SONY", all normal, but then I see an exclamation mark with a triangle around it with a smartphone under it... I've had this before, but then I used some software to re-install the whole thing and it was gone. But now I have 2000+ photo's on it, and I'm not going to re-install it from scratch like I did before... Obviously.

So the question is, is there anyway to get all the media off with it being in this state? The photo's are precious to me as I use it as a digital camera. All the photo's also include all the photo's from my last phone. And the phone before that...

Can anyone please help me out? I will take it apart if necessary!

Sorry I can't help with your specific problem, but surely if these photos are that precious, why, oh why, didn't you copy them onto your PC at regular intervals? If someone comes along and gets your phone up and running again, the first thing you must do is copy them off. It's so easy to do, you don't even need to use a backup utility.

I personally have all my photos copied off onto a raided external disk (so they're actually on 2 disks). You could also go further and copy them onto a cloud storage device, such as skydrive.

Look at Flash tool and an ICS ROM, or Gingerbread, which ever. They are on Xda, follow the instructions to re flash your phone, I *think* your photos will be ok since they are on the Memory card section.

Well, I tried to full backup with PC Companion prior to updating. But that error'd out too... So I figured updating would resolve the backup error-ing out backup feature... Not.

I'll definately look into that Flashtool software. I hope it will work, but I;m not going to try untill I know for sure...

Have you tried using sus to update your phone?

No. It is on my PC, but I presumed it didn't work since PC Companion didn't even detect my phone... Well it did, but on and off...

I hear SuS sometimes works where pc companion doesn't.

Flash tool will do the same as those two programs with the exception of telling you there's a new firmware out, you Just point to the firmware you want and it flashes it.

What is SuS? I;m sorry, but I'm a total n00b. When I google for SuS I get; Services for the UnderServed, System usability scale, Sharnbrook Upper School, Southern University Systemand even a film from 2010... Wtf?

It's Sony update service, its another pc app you can download from Sony to update your phone.

Just had the same problem, although this is the first time it's happened, what was the software you used to reboot it?? please!
