Help updating kernel

im running cyanogen mod 6.1.2 froyo 2.2 and am regularly having problems with apps force closing. reading around different forums seems to suggest that updating the kernel from #409 to #412 might fix this but i cant find any details on how to do this. has anybody got any idea?

I don't have an LG Optimus, but usually you just have to flash the wanted kernel like you did with the ROM, no need for any wiping because it is not a ROM. I flashed a few Kernels and different Radios already, never had a problem doing it. Takes a few seconds. But as I said I don't want to mess anything up, so if anyone else can confirm this then be my guest and flash
