It seems strange, but I can't see a way around this. My new Three HTC Desire came with various pre-installed apps such as Facebook, GMail etc.
But when I go into Market, they didn't show up in the "my apps" section. And therefore, as far as I can tell, that meant that they couldn't be updated (I believe that is the only way to update apps - correct me if I'm wrong). The annoying thing is that when I go through the apps in Market, there are newer versions of the apps that I already have installed.
So I've been through the market and one by one, tried to find each app that was pre-installed on the phone in the market, clicked it and installed it from there (another strange thing - the phone DOES know its already installed, as the button says "Install" for each of these pre-installed apps rather than "download" like every other app).
Now I've done this, the apps appear in the "My Apps" section, and I believe are now eligible for auto updating. Which is good.
Am I missing something here, or is this a known problem? It was a pretty tedius.
Also as a side question, when I was manually searching for these updates, I noticed that none of the HTC apps (eg weather, mail) weren't in the Market. Does that mean any update to those apps come from the "Check for system update" button in the settings?
