updating to android 2.2

I have htc sync on my pc and was wondering how can i install the latest android to my phone via my pc ? I am on a 500mb data usage plan and have already updated to android 2.1 so I don;t want to go over my alloted usage, I am not even sure how much data these updates use. Cheers guys

just to be sure if you update to 2.2 you will not be able to root the device.
updates are around about 90Mb.
you cannot do them via pc they must be done via the phone.
Dont you have internet at home then use wi-fi ?
or just go a wi-fi spot lolz.
