Updating to ICS?

Hey guys just got my first android phone, the XE and its charging right now as im typing. So anyway i've been going through threads and i noticed some people have wifi issues after updating to ics, do you think i should update my phone(if i do receive it) or does this only happen to people running custom ROMs.
Having no wifi on a high-end smartphone would be a major blow, what do you think?

I've updated my XE and the WiFi works fine (my phone would be utterly useless otherwise).

If it's a brand new phone, that will help, as most users problems stem from old data conflicting with ICS (hence factory reset solving most problems).

to be honest, i'm not sure i really like ICS on this phone and have thought about going back.
