Updating to latest root firmware?

Hey all so I rooted my phone quite some time ago and was wondering if there is a new root update available for download. Also if I choose to download and install it will all my apps/settings/contacts/etc be erased?

Android Version 2.3.3
Baseband version I9100MUGKG2
Kernel version 2.6.35.7-I9100JPKG2-CL342890root@DELL104 #2
Build number GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
 
I don't really recognize the firmware as its not xx or xw but I would assume if you've made a nandroid backup you should be able flash any custom ROM or official 2.3.5 firmware. If it all goes tits up just recover your nandroid.
 
That looks like a gs2 from canada right? I rooted mine also and you are able to update to any firmware you would like. Just make sure you have the same kernel for whichever firmware you want.

Ya it is the bell galaxy s2. So when I upgrade the firmware will all my files such as app/contacts/settings be wiped?
 
I need help on rooting from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 please. I don;t know which kernel to use I am probably going to update to XXKI4 anyone used that specific firmware and how is it?
 
2.3.6 is out now KK2 or KK5. I have used KI4, everthing was fine for me.
If you want 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 you will need to update your firmware before you update the rooted kernel.
 
If you are not already rooted, and you only want to root, then then whatever firmware you are on root with this (eg. If you are on KH3, install cf-root's KH3 file.)

If you want to install the latest firmware and also root, then install the firmware first (eg KK2) and then root with KK2 afterwards
 
XEN netherlands is the firmware. use this

the stock kernel is just one part of this firmware and would not fully update your phone
