Upgrade available next week

Well I jumped on the HTC Sense Bandwagon when I got my Eris 20 months ago. After rooting it it has been a pretty good little phone although I am incredibly envious of my wife's Incredible.

The Incredible 2 is free at Best Buy with an upgrade right now, 4g doesn't really interest me much, is this the way to go?

You would be comfortable with the Incredible 2 but I don't recommend running it stock. There have been some deals on the Rezound if you like big phones.

I think this is a good phone. I agree with bberryhill0. This phone is even better if you root it. There are some very nice custom ROMs out for this phone.

I have had the Samsung Fascinate, Droid Charge (4G), and now since 3 days ago, the Incredible 2. Yes, I actually downgraded from a 4G phone (I have unlimited data) to a 3G phone. The Incredible 2 seems to just work, with very few flaws.

What I noticed my first day with the Inc 2 was how FAST it is. Everything is very smooth and very little lag. The GPS really works, and can even get a lock inside a building. The camera is the fastest Android camera I've used. The screen is a perfect size, not too big, not too small. The form factor overall is excellent, as well as the tactile feel. And battery life is one of the best.

The known drawbacks of this phone are its slightly weaker radio antenna (but don't just look at the bars, look at signal strength in dB), and tinny/weak external speaker. In real use, these don't seem to be much of an issue for most people. At this point I would not take any other phone, all 4G phones included, from Verizon over this phone. Way to go HTC.

P.S. I am not rooted and do not plan to root.

A lot of former Eris users here. General consensus seems to be that this device is an Eris without the bugs. You'll like it.

Another former Eris user and I LOVE this phone. I wasn't expecting much, to be honest. It was free and I got it somewhat impulsively. I had been planning on getting an iPhone but my wife got one and something about it just didn't impress me. So I saw the chance to get this phone free and I went for it. I've only had it for probably 4-5 days but I am shocked by how great it is and what an improvement it is from the Eris.

Eris owner and still using it.
Love my DInc2, and wouldn't trade it for anything on the market right now.
Rooting was worth it for me just like it was on the Eris. The only thing is, I'm finding way more bugless and baddass ROMs for the DInc2 than I ever did for the Eris. The Devs are tearin' it up yo!
:)
I really think you'll be happy with it. If not, you have like 14 days right?

I was happy with Eris especially after I rooted it.
Dinc2 (not rooted yet) is not without flaws though (mine at least)
The sync is crapping up once a day, at least....

I've had the Inc2 since it was released last April and it has worked really well. Since you had and liked the Eris I think you would really appreciate the Inc2. It's not known if it will get upgraded to ICS, but that may not be an issue for you.

+1 to this

After looking at 2 of the Three (Superphones - Razr and Rezound, Nexus not out yet) they are all huge. In fact the store saleperson was trying to convince that her T-Bolt is not too big (as it hangs out of her pocket with a case on top of it). Specs wise while the Nexus is thin it is still tall and wide. I was lucky enough to grab a red Dinc 2 over Thanksgiving day sale. Like the phone a lot - don't expect LTE until at least 2013, have picked up a lot of great apps for 10 cents during the big Google sale, am most on WiFi during the day, the size is perfect - anything bigger is too big and too heavy. No complaints right now and hoping HTC will stick to the terms of the upgrade deal they made with Google for 18 month upgrades. Battery life is fine (gets me through a full day with at least 25-30% left), I like Sense, phone runs smoothly, and the only downside was only 8 GB micro SD (looking at a 32 GB for only $31 on NewEgg). Still getting used to Android (WebOS refugee :)) and would love to have some WebOS features but overall pretty pleased. Tried real hard to convince myself that an iPhone would be good and just couldn't do it :D). Tired of lurking and happy to contribute. All in all, I think this is the best 3G phone on Verizon (although I wish they had the Nexus S).
