Root Upgrade from froyo to gingerbread?

Hello everyone, I want to upgrade my LG Ally VS740 from froyo to gingerbread, how can I do that and what link can I get from, if anyone knows about this, please help me out, I'm new with upgrade stuff, thank you very, I hope to hear back from you guys soon.
 
Check out this forum. Please read the instructions and known bugs. This dev is pretty cool and is really the only dev on AF who even cares about the Ally at this point (it's an older device). When I had one, I remember his ROMs were a fresh take on Android and was impressed.

cm9 and cm10 are currently being worked on as experimental projects for the Ally. Whether or not it will work for activated users ithe question.
 
Yup. Gb is working and as stated cm9 and 10 are in the mixes. If you google lg ally cm7 the first result from xda is great. You even get a twrp "touch recovery". It was in the 2nd or 3rd page. The poster with issues was me and my problens are more isolated.

Are you able to flash back to CWM? Or flash any other rom? Fix permissions? You should probably make a post or PM the guy. He might also need to work on the TWRP port. He said that his tester for the Rom that I was stuck on claimed they loaded it, but had not actually done so. Which was why it didn't load; but he fixed, tested, and re uploaded a working one.

I would not recommend using download mode unless you absolutely have to. I just realized I'm not isolated with that issue. Apparently a lot of Ally's have connection/flashing issues.

Definitely got to be careful at this point. Im gonna guess you cant flash anything except the ROM you are stuck on. And reflash TWRP. Other than that everything else fails right? And you can't fix permissions either. Pm the mod. Until then is it possible flash a cwm nandroid through twrp?

Also which build did you try? Is it the latest or the one before that I was stuck on?
 
Believe me, i've PM'd him alot now. I've tried every build and all fail still.
I don't have a nandroid nor know how to restore through twrp. i know how to in AmonRA and CWM.

He said there was corrupt drivers in twrp and left a link for amon ra. I dont know what to do except try to go to amon ra and see if it lets you

So just rebooting recovery let you flash the other recovery? I rebooted recovery a lot. Weird. No matter what the only files that would flash for me was the rom i was flashing which would not load and twrp. Im glad its work for you. Hopefully he gets wifi and camera working.
 
i have an SDcard reader so i removed my sd, and dropped his flashable package of AmonRA to it and flashed it in recovery and BAM fixed everything then you can reflash the rom. it runs great.
