Before I jump in with both feet; Is it safe for me to upgrade my i9100 currently on XWLS8 NeatRom Lite v4.2 and Dorimanx kernel v7.45 to the latest official JB 4.1.2 XWLSJ rom using Mobile Odin ?

Anything I need to consider before flashing ?

Yes it is although you will have to re-root if you are flashing a stock firmware and kernel.

Why not flash, as you are rooted, NEAT ROM Lite LSJ instead. Siyah kernel 6.0beta4 works brilliantly with this firmware IMHO.

I've flashed official I9100WXLSJ_I9100OXXLS7_NEE rom just to get practice on using mobileodin, problem is now I don't have CWM installed to restore my nandroid backup, whats the best way to resolve please ?

P.S I used MobileOdin Everroot/superuser options during flash so phone is rooted.

You have lost root.
Easiest way these days it to flash the version of PhilZ kernel appropriate to your firmware.

PhilZ kernel thread

Go to Post #2, and download the most recent version for LSN
If you download the .tar.md5, flash via Odin
If you download the .zip, flash though stock recovery

I've not given you the links direct, as post #2 also gives you all the instructions you would need.

Thanks Hawker, will do, strange as I thought using everroot option would have worked, root checker reports phone rooted ok

oh yes, I missed that
You will still be rooted then, but you would still have the stock recovery which comes with any stock rom.
This basically is a pile of pants.

Still, flash Philz or even Siyah or Dori, depending on your kernel of choice
You will then have an infinitely better recovery than what you currently have at the moment

Thanks SCPadgeebar, I wiped cache and dalvik but still boot looping at samsung, I wiped cache/dalvik again then restored nandroid backup but no change, any other things I can try ?

I've flashed Dorinmax kernel and deleted cache and dalvik, restored nandroid backup but still boot looping, any suggestions please.........

Hmmm... that's odd. Try this.

Flash Stock Rom
Re-root
Restore nandroid backup
Restart phone and go to Recovery again
Restore nandroid backup again

Thanks for the info,

I got it working last night by flashing a couple of different roms and kernels then restoring backup ok.

I must say this flashing has been quite problematic for me, it seems so straightforward on paper but when you get an unexpected problem it makes you just wish you hadn't bothered.
