[gcole54]

I have just purchased my first android phone, a samsung i 500. How can i find out what my os version is? And if I have 2.1 where do I go to get 2.2? Any help would be appreciated.

Go to settings > about phone >android/software version. Will tell you what version you are running.

Under the same menu there should be a 'software updates' tab, go there and it will tell you if an update is available.

Depending on where you are you won't be able to get 2.2 unless you want to void your warranty and install a custom one.
