Root Upgrade to ICS Fail (sd-ext.img)

Hello.

I was all excited about the ICS release for spectrum and as soon as I got home I restored to Stock V4 and tried the update.

...Your Software is up to date. is the message I got.

Also when I tried to to it via USB through computer it gave me an error saying to check my USB connection. I connected it over and over several times but same error.
(I was on the leaked ICS rom before this happened)

One issue I saw when I rechecked on CWM was that I got an error message when restoring and also wiping data.

It gave me an error:

E: format volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblklklp2

I tried restoring /sd-ext but it gives me an error: sd-ext.img not found.

Any Ideas..?
I'm really stuck and this is the only phone I have..

Please~ Any Help would very much be appreciated..

Thanks in advance!!
Congrats to all those who succeeded in the upgrade!

Oh..By The Way..when installing the ICS Leak I have restored to V4 once and updated to V6 without any problem..
But now it won't update and think I am on the latest version software..

Just FYI .

Thank you!

That line is an issue with CWM recovery. It should have been mmcblk1p2 which is your sd-ext.

If you were on the leak (the tot, not the flashable rom), there is a small chance that something was left in your system. My best guess is that your phone just hasn't been flagged for the first round of updates. Give it a day. If nothing else, I will be updating the .cab method for flashing ICS.

Thanks for the reply..
But is this really possible?
Because I can not even get it to update to V6...

I am on V4 and won't update to V6 which happened before..
Is there no way to fix my problem?

THanks.

Try grabbing the V6 stock nandroid from the forums here and restoring that. If you're still stuck. The LG Update tool from their website is also giving hit and miss ability to provide the V6 and V7 updates.

It was miss for me. I keep seeing that our device isn't supported with the LG tool.

Yea, I tried that and got an error that some engine couldn't start. I really f**ked something up.

So I restored a v6 nand, restored stock recovery and did a factory restore, but when I check for an update, it tells me I'm current. lol

I'm installing the VZ tool now to see if that works.

...and it didn't:

*edit*... crap, I forgot to put the cab int he kp500 folder. I'm just going to use it to push v7 to my phone.

I guess your situation is pretty similar to mine?
same boat..

Let me know how it goes!
Thanks!

Neph! Thanks for all the help!

umm stock recovery doesnt support sd-ext ;)

not to mention CWM will error on that if the sdcard isnt repartitioned for it, which the Spectrum has no real need for it. ;)

Well, when all else fails, there is always this method (updated with v7 .cab link)

Flashing LG signed Firmware - LG Spectrum - RootzWiki

Hey Neph,
I have a question: After you upgrade to stock v7 (either ota, download or with your cab method), will it be possible (in lieu of locked bootloader) to go back to v6 (either stock or modified) so that you can install cwm and flash other ROMs (if you don't like the stock ICS)? I am asking you since you answered most of my "noob" questions in a way I can understand. Thanks in advance

Yes, downgrading is possible. My best advice. If you softbrick your phone, always flash the same version. Once you have things functional, you can use the .cab method to downgrade. I did a check last night and none of the partition sizes changed and I personally have come and gone from the v7 .tot file many times this way.
