Upgrade to S3??

Good morning. I currently am using the Droid Razr Maxx on Verizon. I am kind of bored with it and can get an early upgrade. The phone I REALLY want is the Note 2 but they excluded that phone from the upgrade. Would it be worth using the upgrade now for the S3? Or should I just wait for either the 4 or a different phone? I have played with the S3 and it seems like a great phone. I am just nervous about getting stuck for two years.

And obviously, using the Maxx has spoiled me with battery life. What are your experiences with battery life on the S3?

Thanks

The S3 is a great device but you'll get wildly varying responses about battery life. Most seem to last about a day. It's entirely dependent on apps you're running, signal/location, screen time, etc.

If overall thickness of the phone isn't an issue (& the limited amount of choices in phone cases to fit) you always can overcome the battery life question w/an extended battery, or, a MOPHIE battery case.

Also, the S3 is a very capable phone, but, as you mentioned, soon to be one-upped by the S4. I'd hold off until it comes out, especially since your phone(RAZR MAXX) should be getting Jelly Bean within a month or so, as a soak test for JB is in progress as we speak.

With Jelly Bean on your RAZR MAXX,the upgrade may be enough to sit out a phone change until KEY LIME PIE is released later this year.

I don't know about that, the S4 has been widely reported to have a hell of a lot of bugs right now. I would get the S3 If i were you, the chances that you're going to get anything wildly different from the S3 are very very slim.

How can S4 be reported to have a lot of bugs when it has not been released to the public as yet? Just curious.

People who have seen it have probably leaked some information somewhere ? I was just saying that it was a rumor I had heard going, doesn't really mean it has any validity.

The GS3 isn't really much of an upgrade from the Razr Maxx. More of a lateral move, really. You'd be better off waiting for the latest and greatest at this point. Two years is a long time, after all.

2years is a HUGE time. If i was in a contract and due an upgrade, id at least get something with more ram
EDIT oops thought i was still in the international forum lol forget the ram thing

The S3 has what I would consider average to good battery life when compared to past android phones I've owned. If you're used to plugging in at night as a matter of routine, I don't think you'll have an issue. If you really take advantage of the Maxx & only plug in every couple of days, you'll probably get annoyed pretty quickly with a phone that has a shorter battery life. I don't have personal experience with the Droid Maxx, but it seems like a pretty competent phone & as others have said, I don't think it's really a step up, more of a lateral move. Also might think about if you like TouchWiz, unless you want to immediately root & load CM 10. I don't mind it, but it's definitely far from a vanilla Android experience.
