Upgrade to Samsung Galaxy SIII for Galaxy Nexus owners

Friends,
As a fellow sufferer of having a Verizon Galaxy Nexus that only works 25% of the time:mad:, how about petitioning Verizon to let us upgrade to Samsung Galaxy SIII when it is released with a 50% discount. Otherwise we'll jump to AT&T...I know some of you will laugh at this but power of persuasion is in the number of unhappy customers yelling loud!...dogs that bark the most get the bone ;)
Regards

Eh, definitely won't happen. I'd like to get my hands on an SGS3 but don't feel it's a worthy upgrade this soon. I'm one of the few who has my phone work when I need it so no worries. Plus, if and when VZW picks up the SGS3, who knows when it would upgrade to JB when we know we'll get it sooner.

the SGS3 does not appeal to me either. Also Has Verizon even officially announced it was getting it? By the time it lands on Verizon there will be something else out that is just as good if not better. Not to mention the US version is reportedly only getting the S4 dual core processor not the Quad Core.

Also it will still have Samsung radio tech which a lot of people can now say they need to work on that after owning a G Nex. me included.

personally i'll probably never own another Sammy phone.

The only way I would ever buy a Samsung phone again would be if they put higher quality components in their devices. Besides just the radio, the screen on my GNex got scratched so easily. Even just cleaning the screen on a soft under shirt would put swirl scratches on the surface of the screen. The screen on my Razr Maxx doesn't do this. It cleans off with a cloth and looks flawless still. Samsung just doesn't spend as much on components, which I'm sure is a profit margin thing, but it just makes their devices seem cheap compared to other manufacturers. Even the HTC One series phones look more solid and well-built than the current Samsung phones do. Motorola obviously has the best build quality. However, if Samsung would have just put in a high quality radio in the GNex that is up to par with Motorola, I would still be using a Galaxy Nexus, for sure. Unfortunately, though, Samsung has lost me as a customer for the foreseeable future, along with many others, apparently. And that's just a shame.

Some have already said it. Must...resist...Samsung...device...

Many things to love about the Nexus. But I've found myself wanting to throw it against a wall too many times to come back to the well for more. I've had an HTC and now a Samsung. I've got my eyes on Moto's Razor HD if I stay with VZW. I couldn't care less about a locked bootloader. Bloat will be my biggest issue and I'd gladly trade bloat for a solid and steady 4G/3G connection (read better radios).

No SGS3 for me. Besides, VZW won't even provide me a customer friendly option for a Maxx swap for my under performing Nexus (the want me to PAY them $199!!!) so I HIGHLY doubt they'll cut a deal for the new stuff.

My screen is flawless after 6 months and I clean it everyday with the shirt I'm wearing and my fresh breath :D. It also travels case-less and screen-protector-less in my pocket.

You were not happy with the GN and love the razr maxx. Honestly it's awesome you found that and are content.

I believe my next device will either be a Nexus, or HTC. But to the topic on hand, I doubt Verizon will authorize an early upgrade AND discount, and neither will they agree to swap a GNex for a next gen phone.

Yeah I don't think that kind of exchange would ever be possible, especially with a newer device.

PS. Excuse my above completely off-topic response to another completely off-topic response :o

Ahhhh this brings back memories. Back in '07 many of us with Sprint actually did this. The phone with the issues was the PPC 6800. It's predecessor (PPC 6700) was the "IT" phone at the time so we expected great things from the Mogul.

It was interesting to say the least that this phone didn't start exhibiting it's flaws until after the 30 day return period. We hoped updates would fix things but it only got worse. Right now I don't recall everything that was wrong but their were enough issues that a forum member at PPCGeeks suggested we get Sprint to replace our phones on their dime for the newly released HTC Touch.

Because the Touch was just released many said Sprint wouldn't do a switch but in the end, they did. Those who didn't get it for free (due to having got the Mogul at upgrade price) were able to get a substantial discount. Those like myself who forked over the entire $600+ for an essential paperweight got the HTC Touch ay no cost.

That was then; this is now. With the client base Verizon has they're not threatened in the least bit by the "jumping ship" approach.

I definitely would not jump for another Samsung phone - at least until it was out and I could read very positive reviews and be certain that it is a solid device. My GNex will also be the last time I buy a phone the day it comes out. I got lucky with my DInc (cause that phone is/was awesome) but going forward, I will wait to see if it has issues. Problems started getting reported about this phone on day 1.

If the SGIII comes out on Verizon and looks solid, I may consider selling the GNex and using my wife's account to get it.

I'm sure it's just wishful thinking, but now that Google's purchase of Motorola is official there is a very, very, very slight chance the MaxxHD gets an unlocked bootloader. If that miracle were to happen and I can somehow remove the gigantic and butt ugly "MOTOROLA" and "VERIZON" from the front of the device, that would be my perfect phone.

Fat chance on VZW before the full switch over to LTE, including voLTE, Unfortunately.

Even though I am on the lookout for a new phone to replace my GNex, I think a lot of my issues are Samsung related so this will most likely be my last Samsung phone for awhile.

Yeah if I buy another Samsung, it will be after it's been out a while and issues are well known.

Very good point. I guess I assumed that the Nexus would be a solid phone because, well...it's a Nexus. I bought mine in January, so I had already heard the experiences some people were having with signal and other issues. I guess I just figured it wasn't that much of a widespread problem. I think you're right though, waiting to see what possible issues a device might have before purchasing and getting stuck with it for 2 years is a great suggestion that I think everyone one can agree might be a good move. You just never know what issues a phone might have, and the issue you might have, in particular, might only be an issue for you in your area because of signal strength. I believe that is the reason that I was having problems with mine. Luckily, the signal problems were widespread enough, I assume, that Verizon let me get into another device that worked better for me. I doubt I will be that lucky in the future. So, I will definitely feel out the situation a little better and choose more wisely next time so that I will have a phone that better suits my particular needs.
