Upgrading, Confused!

ok, bare with me please... ive had my Hero since around october, i know my phone is out of date...
when i go on "about phone" in settings, i get this info

1.5

Software version
1.0.0.a6288

how far am i behind? where can i find the updates? how do i update it?

Did you try: Menu>Settings>About Phone>System Updates>Update Frimware ... ?

nope, but will that erase the stuff on my phone? =/

edit: i dont have a system updates option...

Yeah I don't have that either. Is it maybe a Sprint hero only option?

Anyway, assuming you're GSM, look on Menu>Settings>About Phone and find your build number. If it's not 2.73.x.x then you're not up to date.

You can update by downloading the RUU.exe file from HTC's website, or from your network's website if your phone is branded. And yes, it will wipe everything on the phone, so back things up.
