Help Upgrading from Admire

Is it worth upgrading from the Admire to the LG Esteem? The Admire has it's problems just how the LG Optimus M had it's problems as well, are there any defects with the LG Esteem? Any stability problems? Problems with applications? Anything that annoys you? My admire doesn't support a lot of things I want to do since it has low memory and the specs aren't sufficient and I'm not switching back to Sprint to get a decent phone.

I've had a number of Android phones - many of them "Top of the line" - this phone does just as good as them and in some cases better.

I've yet to find any problems or glitches with it. Of course, your mileage may vary!

I just got my esteem today and so far so awesome. I've had a rooted optimus and a stock indulge before the esteem. The optimus was great. Went through three indulges and even the last one was bugging out. Probably just bad luck on my part.my wife has the admire and i like that phone alot. You have a great phone but if you want the extra storage and better specs i say go for it. This thing is FAST. Its responsive, no lag, and seems to utilize 4g way better than the indulge. The 4.3 screen is great. Cameras too. The only thing i've noticed so far that some people may dislike is the weight. It is heavier out of the box than my indulge with its extended battery i have for it.

Ok, so I just bought the LG Esteem for Metro just 4 days ago. Already I have found quite a few flaws and defects. This is strictly from my own personal experience. Perhaps it may be different with others. I believe I should still mention them in case others encounter these issues.
1-5 arent that bad, but 6-8 get very annoying.

1- Metro offers 90 days free on Rhapsody. If you do not like Bloatware, do not download the Rhapsody app. There are like 2 other means of organizing and listening to music. Rhapsody is awful. CANNOT BE UNINSTALLED! I think it would void warranty if you have it rooted and uninstalled since it came built in.

2- 5 MP camera takes terrible photos. The LED flash is not bright at all. Pictures come out really bad. I dont see how it can record video 720p, beats me.

3- Keyboard doesnt go away automatically when you are done typing. This gets annoying if you txt alot like me. You must always click on the arrow to hid the keyboard for it to go away. So if you finish typing and click send, the keyboard stays. Just a minor inconvenience, but it gets annoying.

4- Speaker is very quiet. Miss some calls because of it.

5- The touch screen has messed up a few times on me. On time, I was scrolling down and then i pressed the screen to stop it and it keep scrolling. I tried pressing it a few times after it stopped and it would scroll again as if I slide my finger on the screen. I believe they went cheap on the screen. Definitely not like an AMOLED screen.

6- The Esteem cannot be turned on while the phone is plugged in and charging. So as long as the phone is charging while turned off, it cannot be turned on no matter how long you hold the Power Button.

7- Again, I have owned the phone for 4 days and currently have put about 34min total talk time (warranty is voided if you go over 1 hour). Since I've owned the phone, every single day the internet connection is dropped Phone calls and txt still work, but no internet, app market, email, etc. I have to restart the phone in order to get it back. This is a huge flaw!!! That means if it keeps up, my internet connection will be lost every single day until I throw my phone at the wall

8- And I've saved the best for last... It takes 6 hours just to charge the phone from 25% to 100% Sooooo, the phone has a battery life of almost 3 hours but takes 6+ hours to recharge. Im used the wall charger that came with it and, since its a USB wire, I even tried hooking it up to my computer and my xbox. Still, same slow charging speed. My friend's Galaxy S phone took about 1 hour or so to fully charge from 0%, while using it. Major Charging issue.

Again, this is from my own experience. I know phones have flaws since they are machines and have alot of things running at once, but the stuff I mentioned are basic stuff (Internet connection is dropped daily and insane charging time). I cant live with that especially if Im paying that much for a phone.

Hope this is helpful to anyone who is interested in the phone. Overall, I do believe the phone would have been amazing. Unfortunately it has some pretty stupid MAJOR flaws and I would NOT recommend it to anyone. Save your money and nerves. Metro still doesnt have a competitive Adroid + 4G phone

Ok, so I just bought the LG Esteem for Metro just 4 days ago. Already I have found quite a few flaws and defects. This is strictly from my own personal experience. Perhaps it may be different with others. I believe I should still mention them in case others encounter these issues.

It's always good to see different views of a new product, and just wanted to share my thoughts as well.

1. I have not downloaded Rhapsody as I try and stay away from the carriers preinstalled and downloadable bloatware. It is definitely a shame that it can not be uninstalled.

2. The camera may not be the best, but it is camera within a phone. And I am sure there are plenty of other 5mp camera phones that are better. I would say average but not horrible pictures. And the LED seems nice and bright to me.

3. And I agree about the keyboard not hiding being an annoyance, but I am getting use to hitting the little button. Maybe this keyboard is a LG mod of the stock gingerbread keyboard. I have no experience with previous LG or gingerbread products.

4. My speaker is very loud and has even awakened me in the middle of the night with email notifications, so not sure why yours is so quiet.

5. I think the screen is crisp and bright, although I have never seen an AMOLED screen. But this one does not have that and to me is a pretty cool upgrade coming from an Ascend and it's tiny lowres screen. Maybe the phone was laggin a little from something and thats why you experienced that. I have had no lag.

6. Did not no this as I usually am charging while on, but yes that does seem to be a little annoying.

7. I have had no internet issues other than testing 3rd party apps to turn off LTE, and if I lost connection, I would reboot. I believe that issue should be solved by app devs when they are able to better support this particular device. With your issue, maybe the FOTA update will solve your issue. I heard there were some issues if Metro turned the phone on without the 4G card it first.

8. I have yet to have it take 6 hours to charge completely. I use Juice Defender and have it set so that the wifi/radios are off when screen is off. Because of this I am sure that is why it is not taking that long to charge. How long? i will have to test to get the charge time for me.

Unfortunately it has some pretty stupid MAJOR flaws and I would NOT recommend it to anyone. Save your money and nerves. Metro still doesnt have a competitive Adroid + 4G phone

To me, this is a pretty awesome phone and while there are a few annoyances, it does not have major flaws, at least in my opinion.

While I was there, the phone coincidentally lost data connection. Perfect timing on the phones part.

I really do like the phone alot. The slow charging thing is insane. Ive been writing down the speed. On average my Esteem goes up about 12% every hour. If you did the math, that would mean that it would take my phone to charge from 0% to 100% in a little under 9 hours. All of my friends have android phones and they dont have to be worrying about charing the phone constantly.

I really hope that I just bought a ******ed phone, and not typical.

My phone takes about 3-4 hours to charge. Most likely when i add my extended battery tonight it will take all night but it should get me through the day

I've had nothing but good experiences with this phone. If someone is having "issues" then take it back within 30 days and they will replace with a new one (may have to order it). And i bought mine for the phone and Android goodness. And personally think the cameras are pretty good for what they are. CAMERAS ON A PHONE. I havecamcorders and digital cameras for important things i need pics and vids of.
