hey all i use samsung galaxy y plus which is running on ics.is it possible for me to upgrade it to kitkat? if so pl tell me how?

According to Google, KitKat requires 512MB of RAM and it looks like your phone only has 290MB, so my guess is it's not going to work 
But I'm no expert - check the rooting sub-forum for your phone: maybe somebody has done something clever ..

That being said, the carriers and manufacturers still would have to go back and retrofit, develop, test, debug, document, roll-out, and support the upgrade, which I'm guessing is a very expensive and time-consuming effort.
