Root uploading your own rom from phone

Hi is there a way to take the rom from your phone to your pc for editing etc..

You can edit the zip Rom you have downloaded. For example, you can delete. Apks and reflash, but I don't think you can take a standard Rom which you rooted and edit it.

Unless somehow you can restore a nandroid backup in an emulator and do stuff but thats going to be limited to what you could do on your own phone anyway.
