Root Upside-down Front Facing Camera

I was using NoLimit's rom and today it started acting funny (sending and receiving sms/mms, choppy 3G, etc.) I talked to Sprint and there was no outage in my area. Then when I started to take a picture the front facing camera was upside down. That never happened on any other rom.

I nand back to Team Nocturnal's 4.67 1.0 sense rom and asked Sprint to refresh the network from their end. It did wonders for the sms/mms and 3G problem but when I just went to take a picture with my front facing camera, it now is upside-down. I wiped cache and dalvik cache after I restored so idk what's happening.

I do not want to fresh restore because I have everything perfect the way it is now except this little problem.

Its a reported ROM issue in nolimits if I remember correctly. Some people just have issues with it. I'm not sure if hes still developing it or not I haven't heard from him in a while.

If you can live without it, go for it. I hardly ever use the front facing camera.

Try wiping dalvik and cache and flashing TN on top of itself and see if that fixes it. If it does, try the same on NoLiMiT's

Could be a kernel issue as well

It didn't start happening until I flashed NoLimit's. Also, flashing TN on top of it self won't erase my already saved stuff on the phone? I've seen someone else suggest doing that to another person but never knew what that could do.

As long as you dont wipe data it doesn't erase apps/settings/ect

Just wipe dalvik cache & cache & flash the ROM.

This will not work with certain ROMS that wipe data upon flash (mikG3.11)

So I flashed Aggressive Freedom back and the camera went upside down on TN -___- If I change kernels will it be okay? I don't feel like flashing TN again over top this one.

It may be an all around 4.67 issue for some. After searching around I've seen it mentioned with 4.67 a few places.

That definitely sucks. My friend has the EVO but he didn't root it and his back camera is being weird showing a weird tent. He's fully updated from HTC too. I might roll back to 4.53

I'm still waiting ever so patiently for Tommy's next release. I'm sure he will have everything ironed out.
I'm pretty sure it'll be an issue using any custom kernel on a 2.3.5 ROM. We don't have updated kernel source from HTC, so all of the current custom kernels are still using the old 2.3.3 source. Something apparently changed in there that's affecting the front camera orientation, so that it only works right with the stock kernel.

Maybe it's an issue with updated camera libs from the 4.67 build. Perhaps rolling back to the 4.54 libs would fix the issue?

Interesting, I never use the front camera though... so its a non-issue for me.

I'll try using old camera libs for the hell of it one it is released though.

"Until the source code for 4.67 kernel is released, the ffc will be flipped.. From 4.53 -> 4.54 kernel wasn't updated so we didn't see a difference.. In this upgrade it was changed... To fix would require a patch to the drivers, haven't found a successful correction in other kernel developments yet, most devs just rebase their kernel when the new source code becomes available and the issue is fixed."

So if you had any kernel but stock 4.67 you'll have the problem.

No need to blame NoLimit for everything. Rxpert ;)

I assure you it wasn't meant to blame any developer. I had just remembered from when it was released that there were front facing camera issues. I hadn't followed up on it enough to see that it was all 4.67 ROMS with custom kernels.

I have nothing against NoLiMiT or his dev skills.

That explains this as well
