Root Urgent advice ROM Crash

Hi Guys,

I literally feel sick to my stomach how dumb I've been.

I've basically fallen foul of the temptation to upgrade my HTC Desire S from the standard supplied gingerbread 2.3 to the hydrogen v1.9 saga v3 zip file (2.3.1.).

No, I haven't wiped my data and done a reset prior to doing the restore. I feel like such a twat now for tinkering with it and resolving it is beyond my expertise

I am just learning about these things right now, but have you looked into other methods of flashing, not just using recovery, such as RUU , or tools such as adb to re install recovery?

Try this if you haven't already...

1 Boot into recovery
2 Format System (don't wipe it)
3 Format Data
4 Format Cache then Format Boot
5 Wipe Data/Factory Reset
6 Wipe Dalvik Cache
7 Install the zip from SD card and flash the ROM
8 Reboot

If you still get nowhere, try going to recovery and flashing the previous working ROM before the one you're trying to flash. Reboot to that ROM, then reboot into recovery and go through the above steps to try again with the ROM you want.

If the above doesn't work, I think using 'adb' would be my next step. For that you need to install SDK to your PC. 'adb reboot recovery' is the first command to try. I'd read up on SDK and adb before using this tool so you know what it's about and how you should be careful when using it, i.e. typos can brick your phone!
