Root URGENT help needed

I flashed the mikG rom about 2 hours ago and I was using "My Backup Pro" to restore my apps, data, etc. Everything restored and I rebooted. Well it never rebooted. It won't get past the white "htc evo 4g" screen. I go to recovery and tried to restore with the nandroid back up and it says the sd card is not mounted.

I don't know what to do!

I've got it to recognize the SD card...so I'm trying a nandroid restore. God I hope this works. Rooting has not been fun thus far. Horrible idea!

The nandroid restore was successful according to the system. It's past the white screen and loading the ICS boot screen now. I just want my phone to work again...

And did you wipe well before flashing?

Yeah I wiped everything (cache, dalvik cache, data) 3x after I used the superwipe zip.

It now boots up after I used the nandroid recovery. But absolutely no apps will open. I can make and receive calls and text messages but that's it. Nothing else works.

The vast majority of my apps are not showing up in the app drawer. But all my home screens are how they were when I did the nandroid back up initially.

It's extremely frustrating. Thank god I'm eligible for a new phone on Oct 1. Don't think I'll be rooting that one.

Is your sd card partitioned?
When you made the nandroid backup, did you include your sd-ext? (if you are partitioned.
If not partitioned, did you include your android-secure (or something like secure) in your backup?
The reason I ask is, that is where your apps are stored.

My card is not partitioned to my knowledge. That's not something I ever did to it.

Also, I don't know how to do any of the stuff you guys are talking about except wiping the cache, dalvik cache, etc. Not sure how to check if the data/app/directory.

o.k...
when you made your nandroid backup, do you recall what boxes you checked when you made the backup?
wimax, sd-ext, boot, system, --things like that....heh, I cant remember what all the options were either, I just check them all when backing up.:p
To check th data/app directory, you need a file explorer such as
root explorer, or es file explorer among others available in the play store.

Edit: I really need to go to bed now...hopefully ocn or robo can continue with ya! :)

Ok, I did the first 3 that were already checked and wimax.

interesting then. try and just wipe dalvik cache and cache and see if that helps.

edit: also try and wipe everything except the sd card and try and restore your nandroid backup.

also it is possible that your nandroid backup might have gotten corrupted. maybe a full flash of a rom might help.

I'm just gonna flash the rom again after a full wipe. Its oddly irritating having a phone that only does what a phone used to do. lol. Text and make calls.

Wiped everything and flashed the strike rom again. Didn't touch the phone for 45 minutes after it booted up. Was working great. I didn't restore any apps. But when I restored my data, sms, etc the menu lag came back. Prior to restoring those the menu lag was non existent.

So I'm wiping again and flashing the rom again. I'm not gonna restore anything, I'm just gonna start from scratch. Hopefully the menu lag won't return.

What data are you restoring? User or system?
Don't restore system data.
If you are restoring user data, can you narrow it down to what app data is causing the lag?

I dont know exactly what is causing it but it's gone for now. I did not restore any apps or data. Only contacts from a vcard on my SD. It's working great right now. No menu lag at all. I've just downloaded a few apps I use a lot until I can be sure everything is working long term.

Mike, I was just restoring user data.

it be easier if you add your contacts to google. no need to restore contacts as they will be backed up and sync'd with google. and all you have to do is sign in to google and your contacts will be there.

That's part of my problem. When I sync my contacts with google, before importing the vcard, I get duplicates of every contact. Like 7 or 8 of each. So it's easier to not sync my contacts with google and just import from the card.
