Help URL Stuck in Browsers

nasirq

Lurker
I have an HTC Sensation, Andriod 2.3.4

I have an unusual problem. On Wifi everything works fine. But on 3G, I cannot access any webpage. The internet works fine, I can send / receive emails, use ssh etc. but when ever I enter any URL in any browser (Internet, Opera, Dolphin) it waits for some time and then goes to another URL (same URL everytime, in all browers) which I entered sometime back, and says could not access proxy server (see the attached picture in 111210-113452 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!).

I have tried the following:
1. Removing and then installing all browsers
2. Deleting all browsers data
3. Clearing History
4. Deleting the APN for 3G and re creating it.

Please help me out.

That is strange... cant see the pic on work computer but it is really odd that after clearing browser data it still does it.... try lookout and scan phone just in case it is some sort of malware.... not saying it is but without being able to see pic that's as good as i can guess

Have you tried a factory reset yet? Backup all your data using MyBackup Pro or Titanium and then try it and see if it works.

I have not gone for a factory reset because I have a lot of apps installed, and it will be a pain to reinstall, confirgure them all. I am keeping this as the last option.

I am going to try lookout now to see if it finds anything. Will keep you posted.

Well hopefully you can fix it without a factory reset but if you use MyBackup Pro then you can backup your apps and their settings so reinstalling them is really easy, basically one click.

What's the URL it's going to? It's unreadable on your screenshot.

If multiple browsers are affected and it works over WiFi but not over the data network, I'd be tempted to suggest that it may be an operator issue (or incorrect APN settings) rather than a problem with the phone. Try ringing your provider.
