Help Usable storage space on Nexus 4

Hey guys, I'm considering buying the Nexus 4 in the coming weeks, but have one question first. Does anyone know the actual usable storage space of the 8GB? I know my HOS says 16 GB, but has 2.21GB available for apps, and 9.93GB available for everything else, which means the system takes up the other 3.86 GB. HTC's sense is probably pretty heavy and all the bloatware takes up some room.

So does anyone know what will be available to the user? Honestly if I have 5GB I'll be fine.

Thanks in advance!

I'm guessing it will be about 14gb. I have a 16gb nexus 7 and it has just under 14gb of usable space. I'm in the same boat...will never get to filling it up.

Hope this attached screenshot of my Gnex storage helps, I would imagine the Nexus 4 will be about the same.

I can't find the thread now, but Phil over at Android Central (who has a review unit) said that it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 13gb of free space (12.something if I recall).

I am wondering the same thing. The figures for the 16GB devices seem to show the that what is left will be around 3.2GB if Google uses the same footprint for the 8GB Nexus 4 as is used on the devices listed.

Does anyone know what the footprint of Jelly Bean is?

That thread is located [SPOILER: DEAD LINK] here unfortunately, I think it's been pulled in anticipation of Phil's review. I know it's there because that link is from my browsing history and I was looking at it just this afternoon.

Luckily for us, Google exists, so here is the cache

Dude your math is definitely off

My Nexus 7 has 13.24 GB, probably there or thereabouts

16-13.24=2.76GB used by the OS. 8-2.76=5.24GB of usable space. probably a little less since it will need the software to utilize the mobile radios.

I'd be hesitant to say that. Memory is never exactly what it says on the tin depending on the definition of a gigabyte and the rounding on the specs.

After a quick browse I found the Nexus 7 8GB had 5.92GB usable space

Thanks that is the kind of info I was looking for.

either way I'm ok. Like I said originally, if it hits 5, I'm happy
