Root USB Brick?

Hi, new member here.

I have recently rooted my Desire and installed CM7.2. Everything seemed fine until i realized it won't mount my SD card. When I check the storage, it only gives me the option to erase the SD card. I have checked if the card works with another Desire and it does work, I even formatted it and tried on my rooted Desire but it just won't let me mount it.

I installed AmonRa recovery and from there I can mount SD card and can even flash zips. Using USB-MS also works perfectly. I have also used the Android SDK and tried the "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0". But again, my phone still cannot mount it whatever.

I haveney used any of this stuff in a long while but there may be a setting in recovery that needs to be toggled, have a good look around your recovery menu and see what you come up with, failing that all I can really suggest is that reflash recovery via adb and then clean install your rom.

As I type, I think! Have you tried flashing a back up you know works?

Hi Shishi, and welcome to AF :)

Hmm, does sound like the problem is with the phone, but it's kinda surprising that the fastboot command didn't re-enable it if it's a USB brick.

Are you S-Off (did you use Revolutionary to root it, for example)? If so you could try installing 4Ext Touch recovery via fastboot - there's a link to an image in the Revolutionary guide in this forum. That recovery includes a usb brick fixing feature.

Or, if you can flash zips from recovery, maybe first try loading a different ROM, or as IB says reinstalling the current one or restoring a backup, in case there is just something odd with your current android software rather than something lower-level.

If it is a usb brick, we have a thread discussing fixing these here: http://androidforums.com/desire-tips-tricks/365476-guide-usb-brick-fix.html. But as I say, it's funny the fastboot command not working.

Not a fix, but a question which occurs to me: have you ever used ROM Manager? I just ask because that thing is the number one cause of USB bricks on the Desire, and as I recall is included in CM7. Whatever you do, once this is fixed do not use that app.

Ok, I'll try these things once I have finished writing my dissertation.
btw, yes, I'm on s-off via Revolutionary. I have tried flashing zips from recovery too. i had cm 7.2 then flash 7.0 trying to see if it works, and it does.
annndd..nope, havent used ROM Manager for now. Won't be using it anytime soon..

Things to do:
- reflash recovery via adb > clean install ROM
- try install 4ext Touch Recovery
whatever works..XP

Thank you! will update when I've done the things listed above.
