USB cable broke!

Last night, I knocked my phone off the nightstand while it was plugged into the wall. This dislodged the plastic foot on the phone-end of the cable. Where the cable is connected to the micro-usb plug, some of the fine wires are exposed. It charged without incident overnight, but I'm still concerned. Maybe later, I'll see if data transfer is affected.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Would VZW honor warranty replacement of the cable?

(And if not, does anyone know where I can get a cable that's slightly longer?)

Thanks.

They replaced my cable at the VZW store where I bought the phone.

I looked for a compatible cable in brick and mortar stores. The only place I saw it was Staples, for about $20.00. (I guess they can extract a premium from people who can't wait on economy shipping.) I give them credit, though, for having all their computer peripheral cords in one place, and having every relevant permutations of cable in stock.

verizon offers the same warranty on the phone chargers that they do on the phone its self. I had my eris wall charger stop working and they swapped it out free because the phone was still under warranty. Saved me a few bucks.
