USB cables?

Pardon my ignorance, but I've noticed that several of my old USB cables don't work on this phone, no charging or data connection at all. I'd like to go out and pick up a few that do work. Anyone know what I need to look for to make sure they're compatible? I'd rather not have to buy pricey Samsung or Verizon cables if possible.

My old Blackberry charger and USB cables work fine. I ordered the 'OEM' samsung charger off amazon, and an extra 6 ft and 10ft usb cable, they all work fine. I think the 10ft cable causes some loss and charges a bit slower though, not 100% sure about that though.

10ft is "pushing" the USB standard max so I wouldn't be surprised if it was perfect.

I have noticed some of my existing cables do not work, but others do. I would use the amazon link above for some more cables.

Ya, but it actually does work for the most part. Heavy use such as streaming video over a tethered connection will typically make it flatline or decrease (does that on OEM charger for extreme use as well). It's about halfway between USB and AC charging strength.

Do you think I am endangering my battery health? I wish there was some good technical info out there about this...

Here are the cables I bought:
10ft
6ft
OEM setup

I use by 700mA blackberry OEM AC charger too which works quite well, and my verizon car charger that I bought for the old blackberry long ago, which works fine too.

However, in use, the only charger that keeps it from dropping for the most part is the stock AC charger setup. On my car charger, even a voice call will make it flatline or drop.

This is borderline off topic, sorry, should be posted in a new thread about charging-general...

IMO, I don't think it should hurt the battery.

LiIon batteries are only REALLY hurt by full discharge cycles. It's much better to keep them topped off.

there's a LOT of misinformation about batteries in general and lot of unsubstantiated claims about the "best" way to care for them.

The above is my opinion. YMMV

I believe the 10ft length is only for USB 1. USB 2 is 16 feet if I remember correctly and pretty much everything should be USB 2 or better now so it shouldn't be something to worry about.
