USB charging in car

Hello all - first thread I've created here!

I bought a USB adaptor for my car's cigar lighter recently so I can keep my phone topped up whilst out and about. It doesn't actually charge my i7500 though :(

The cable I use works to charge when connected to a PC - also the USB car adaptor works when charging other devices (eg, MP3 player).

Is there something else that I require to get it to work?
Have any of you managed to get in-car charging working?

Thanks!

The I7500 needs 5.0 Volts & 0.7 Amps to charge. Check the output of your car charger, if it doesn't match these input values, then you know what the problem is.

You don't need a multimeter, just check the charger, it should have a label with input and output values. Check the output values.

I'll have some time to tinker tomorrow - sounds like it's not a phone issue which is a good thing! Would be nice to be able to use my phone in my car for mapping and audio use.

Cheers!
