Help USB Connection Problem

Hi,

I am having trouble mounting my Captivate via USB. It is not recognized as a drive in Windows Explorer. I am telling it to mount, putting it in the right mode, but nothing is showing up.

I have tried to install both the Captivate and the Galaxy S drivers found on this forum, but neither did the trick.

Any ideas? Thanks

Edit: This is the notification I get when I mount the phone:

I had the same problem when I tried to plug my phone into my computer at work. I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled the USB drivers that I got from the Samsung site. Everything is working now. I seem to remember a thread a few months ago mentioning that there were 2 versions of the drivers, but I don't remember the exact details.

Can't help you, but if you get it to work let me know. I've been searching the internet for three weeks for a solution.

Among the things I

It's not one solution for all people. Besides all the things uncleflea21 suggests, one should also try another cable. There have been plenty of damaged/bad USB cables that have caused this mentioned in these forums.

Make sure your computer is plugged in, too. I've tried everything to connect my phone and computer and I've gotten it to work maybe twice. It's really bullshit that in 2011 my computer and phone can't be connected together EASILY.

I was once again able to connect to my computer albeit a Windows XP laptop, but even that wasn't recognizing my phone for about a month. I simply plugged my phone in to get a charge and for whatever reason I was able to get it to mount.

I have a feeling I'll encounter this issue again....

I can get it to mount periodically now. Some days it works, other days it doesn't.

I am still having an issue though. I need to get the phone to mount while USB Debugging is active. This is one of the first steps in a walkthrough I am using to flash a new ROM. Is there anything special I need to do to get this to work properly with debugging active? Thanks

Today I was also able to connect to a Windows 7 64 bit computer.

The only thing I can think of as to why all of a sudden I am able to connect is that I tried plugging my phone into a friends computer to see if it would connect (it didn't). The same evening I plugged it back into my own computer and magically everything worked fine again.

I am having a very similar experience. It works on my home PC (Win7 x64) periodically, but never works when debugging is enabled.

It works every time on my work laptop (Win7 x86), with AND without debugging enabled. I would just use my work laptop to install the new ROM, but I can't use it to download files.

I am desperate to get this working on my home computer with debug enabled. Does anyone have any different drivers I could try?

Mine is the same issue. Win XP SP3 32Bit. Sony Laptop w/3 USB ports. I have tried 2 different drivers, ADB drivers, Kies and PDAnet. Nothing will connect this darn phone to the pc. It was working for some time and now nothing. The phone is still original and all I want to do is transfer movies and pics.
Windows just keeps coming up as a non recognized device.
