USB Connection withwindows

Earlier my tab was recognised by windows XP and I used to transfer the data from one to other . Now the tablets gets charged while connecting to Laptop but USB connection is not seen as a result I can not use USB hotspot for Tethering, Any remedy?

Or you migbt have connected using the "Charge only" option(that's what it's called on my LG G3)

In addition to the possibility of a bad cable or "charge only" in the tablet's settings, some cheap USB cables can be wired for charging only and not data.
