USB connection

I'm trying to update to froyo on an RUU but when it is "verifying androids info" i get an "ERROR [170]: USB CONNECTION ERROR". USB in definitely connected both ends, it's charging the phone. It's connected in "charging only mode" with USB debugging enabled, tried reboot on both laptop and PC. Any ideas?

Tried it on my missus computer and it works. No idea why.
