The main reason why I need a tablet is to transfer photos from my DSLR. My DSLR uses compact flash cards. So with the Acer Iconia a500 will the USB port be able to read the card via a card reader?

The other option is to buy the Asus transformer which has a better screen but no USB port. (I don

I have a Nikon dslr and it will not recognize the SD card from the camera by USB. It was aa let down for me too. Your option is to get a USB SD card reader. That's what I will be doing. Not much difference in carrrying around the card reader vs the USB cable.

sorry just saw you use compact flash. In your case I'm not sure if the tablet will recognize the camera by USB. But again yyou can always get a USB card reader.

Depending on your Nikon (I have a D70 and D60), you may have to change how the camera identifies itself when connected. On my D70 there is an option to show up as a camera, or as just USB mass storage. The D70 is using compact flash as storage, but it should be the same for any SD card based Nikon.

I don't happen to remember where this setting is in the camera, but it shouldn't be too hard to find. I do not have my D60 configured this way but I'm pretty sure the setting is there as well.

I'd like to know if this works too, since one of my primary reasons for a tablet is easy picture captures directly from the camera while away from my computer.
