USB cord confusion resolved

Hi all, I thought I would pass this on as it drove me to near insanity and too many unsuccessful calls to Samsung.

I was having no success connecting my SGS2 to a computer. I tried to connect via Kies and mass storage but it would not recognise the phone. I tried to connect to different computers and different USB ports and was dumbfounded.

Then I realised that I received two different types of USB cables...one cable comes with the phone and the other comes with the car charger. I was using the wrong one. Make sure that you are using the one that is just a simple cord and has nothing that looks like a plastic connector along the wire.

The two different cords have the same end connections (phone connection on one end and USB on the other)

I hope I was the only one who ran into this issue but hope it can solve your issue!

If I were you I would throw out the "car charger" cable and get another data cable. Clearly they have tried to skimp a little with the charger by supplying a cable with only the 2 wires in it (+5v & Grnd) and with the two data wires.

There is no problem pluging a data cable into these chargers as it just doesn't connect them. You can be shure one day when travelling you will grab the wrong cable and be somewhere when you need it the least trying to get a file off the phone. Throw it out before it cathes you again! :-)
