Root USB Device Not Recognized

lol no doubt just when you think you're done it starts up dating again

Nah, that's just windows. They do updates on the second Tuesday of the month, every month. Unless its something really important, then they push it out asap. I guess that's better than Apple's update strategy of using their Jedi mind tricks to convince you there is no security vulnerability.

thank you Caeadas :) I use the free version of avast ( again so poor cant even afford to "pay" to protect my stuff ) but that doesnt mean thats all I have ;). as for uninstalls I use Revo uninstaller... works wonders :)

You're doing better than one guy i know, he still has the trial version of norton after like two years, and every time he turns computer on it pops up, wanting him to buy. This guy still uses AOL though...

My nephew got a laptop for christmas last year, and his stepdad uninstalled Avast and installed Norton, because he didn't like the avast lady's "virus database has been updated" popping up several times a day. (like there isn't an option to turn it off ) He also has this foolish belief that cost = quality, and the more you pay for something, the better it must be. My nephew quickly brought me the laptop to get rid of Norton, it slowed down the computer noticeably.

Okay guys I need your help... the past few days has been hell for me with technology. Now my phone is being a brat to top it all off. I plug my phone in and I get a pop up window that says "USB Device Not Recognized" and in it says "One of the USB devices attatched to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". and its coming up as "Unknown Device". This happened right after I updated to CTMod 3.5. anybody have any ideas? please help

Did you finally get your computer up and running? Sounds to me like the best solution would be to reformat or at least do a factory reset. Think of it this way... you'll get a fresh start. A REALLY fresh start ;)

I really do hope you get back up and running again.

thy this method. i had ther same issue with my old samsung fascinate, and it took me two days to find a solution.

"Run "regedit" and select the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/MountedDevices" folder. See all the "Dos Devices" listed? You'll have one entry for each physically mounted drive (HDD or Disc) plus you'll have one show up for each USB drive you attempt to insert. Double click each device listed and see if you see text saying something like "U.S.B.S.T.O.R...". Once you find that device, right click it and select "Rename". Now change the drive letter to something unused... like Q: or something. Close regedit, disconnect the USB device and reconnect again.

If all went well, you should be able to see your new drive when you plug it in.
Good luck!

This worked for me.
