Root USB File-sharing broke!

Dastard

Lurker
I'm not sure what caused this. I thought it might have been a recent app, but I deleted the only new stuff I've installed lately, did a reboot, and still cannot get a USB File connection. It connects fine for charging, and knows it is a USB connection, but won't talk with my machine.

Anyone have any clue what might be causing this?

I'm rooted, with some bloatware removed, but otherwise pretty stock.

I apologize for asking obvious questions, but just to be sure:

Did you install the USB drivers from Samsung?

Do you have USB debugging checked under Applications / Development?

Did it work at one time?

You said that you are rooted so I pretty much assume all of the above is true.

I assume you are using the USB cable that came with the phone. Others may charge the phone but nothing else.

That cable can also get crimped and damaged, try another if you are lucky enough to have another stock cable.

And lastly, Try it on a different computer or different USB port on same computer.

Try this out...
Go to settings
Select applications
Select Development
Uncheck USB debugging

Hrmm... turning off USB Debugging did the trick. I guess I haven't been doing any coding lately so I can leave that off, but I wonder why that was suddenly an issue. It has been on since I got my phone, and I got it 10 minutes after the first batch got to my local Best Buy!

Thanks for suggesting that, I didn't think that would be related.

you have not made an ass of you or me

Tried stock cord as well as other cords

Tried this as well...

So are there any other tricks or tips you guys can think of? It has happened before so should i try from scratch and Odin ED13, take the OTA and then root on up to shabby?
