I have a samsung sch s950c galaxy showcase cell phone. I can't get it to download data using the usb cord. It will charge thats all. Straight talk is telling me to download a usb tether app. Ive been trying but only leads to frustration
Samsungs manual makes it sound simple by plugging int the usb and thats all.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Have you tried a different usb cord? That may be the problem, your old one has a bad pin perhaps for the data transfer.

Hello jwendt and welcome to AF :). Besides the USB cord being bad, did you install the drivers for your phone.
 
By any chance did you turn usb tethering on on our phone? Settings-tethering and mobile hotspots and then check usb tethering. You also need to turn wifi off for usb tethering. this will have to been done with the phone plugged in.
