Root Usb Host question

bobix86

Lurker
Have a theoretical question.
Don't have usb host yet but when i do get it.
When i plug in a usb hub in my pc and connect my dhd to the hub and several other devices could i charge my dhd and at the same time use those devices? Would there be any power issues? Hope someone with experience could answer. :-)

Do you mean one of these?

Unfortunately, it won't work as usb hosting isn't a feature on the dhd.

Note this is the root section, there is a gb kernel which supports usb host (and i hope sometime soon there will be an ics one) for the dhd.
I didn't try the gb one i'm still waiting for ics, and this is a question for those who hopefully used that gb kernel, or those with other devices with usb host.

Sorry my mistake, froyo patched kernel not gb. Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=993152

But according to the post, unless devs change it to support both host and client mode, answer to my above question would be no (still i hoped someone HAS tested it and could possibly prove me wrong).
P.S Testing the theory could prove dangerous, as with host only mode the device is giving off power to other devices and can't be charged (it could result in some sort of overheating).
