USB Internet Sharing on a Win 2000 laptop

Try to get internet sharing up on my rickety old laptop that I use only for this purpose, its running windows 2000 and I am trying to install HTC_Sync_2.0.33. Keep getting the error message :

The operating system is not adequate for running HTC Sync.

My laptop is older but the specs are above the requirements, and according to the download info from HTC, I should be workable.


Any ideas ?
 
Looks like I was mistaken about meeting the min specs. No USB 2.0 :(

No worries though, wireless tethering seems to work great and at least I know why.
