USB Mass Storage?

Using the i747

After discovering that the Galaxy S3 does not support USB Mass storage, I have been looking up methods to hack it into working.

I've triad all the apps, and the closest I've gotten has been Drive Droid, which imposes a limit of 4gb that has to been on the main SD, and I have a 16gb microSD card external that I want to use.

However, I found this link:
JellyBam v7.0.0 for the Samsung Galaxy S3 I747 Android's Finest

Notice how it includes "Mass Storage" as one of its special features. However, I have not been able to find this. It still only gives MTP and Camera modes.

I've also heard about custom kernels to support this. but I've never even seen such kernels. Actually, I haven't seen any kernels in general.

Has anyone been able to get any of these hacks to work?

I just want to be able to run portableapps and utilize my full storage.

Although, I would like to do so at a decent speed. MTP seems to be keeping my down in the hundreds of KB/s. UMS got me 10MB/s on the Galaxy S.

Couldn't get Easy UMS to work on mine...but have been satisfied with an app off the market called Airdroid. It uses your network connection and you get a desktop on your pc to work in.

Running the latest Omega ROM

DriveDroid only supported FAT. Not even FAT32. The options for blank image were basically "FAT" and "Cancel". and a limit of "3999MB" on internal storage.

I currently have SGS3 Easy UMS on mine, and I've been trying it over and over again.

It keeps giving me "Could not mount card: [1]" When I try to mount.

And when I try UMS, I sometimes get "UMS enabled :-)" but no response from the computer. Most of the time, it just gives me "card not mounted".

I looked up all these problems and apparently, they don't exist at all. I've seen no mention of these issues anywhere. It seems to work for the entire planet except me.

I think Samsung owes us an app or ROM, if you ask me. Probably the worst move I've seen Samsung make in a while.

This is an awful lot of hassle just to simply run portable apps, and transfer files without boatloads of errors.

Taking out Mass Storage was not done by Samsung. It was done by Google starting with ICS.

Oh, really? That's news to me. At least it's not a hardware limitation, then.

Here's hoping roms start coming out that actually support it.
