Help USB not recognizing?

Foxspeed

For some reason my Desire is not being recognized when I connect to the PC via USB. Its used to do so not sure why not now. I have tried all the connectivity modes under 'Connect to PC' and also tried different USB ports.
Any ideas?

Thanks.

Fairly sure I've seen remove & re-install of PC-Sync stated as a fix for this.

Edit: Edit removed on the grounds of my being an idiot.

Have you updated anything? I was having problems with the battery going flat overnight due to losing phone signal and constantly searching. I updated my kernel and radio and lost my USB too.

Tried the original USB lead into various USB ports, no luck then was told to check the 'USB Debugging' within SETTINGS/APPLICATIONS/DEVELOPEMENT and still no joy. I also installed HTC- Sync and no different.
Next thing is to try a different USB lead although the current one does actually charge the battery when plugged in!

I have a similar problem. Mine appears to be that something is holding on the the SD card and won't let it go. If I plug in to USB then kill all tasks and immediately switch to "disk Drive" bingo it works. I am using the "unrooted apps to SD hack" which may be a factor.

I'm not generally a fan of task killers but on this occasion it seems to be benificial. I should really kill them one at a time to try to identify the particular app/process that is causing the problem

Can also happen if you're using a cheap USB cable. Dunno why, it just does. Happened to me when I first had my phone.

Problem fixed. As you said, the USB cable was replaced and now it recognizes the phone.
Both cables are genuine HTC that came with the phone, one for the car charger.

Thanks.
