Help USB Port Broken - How to Prevent?

K, this is weird, I already began a thread about thread about this, but it disappeared. Weird.

Anyway, I've had my first EVO since early September, but am now getting it replaced because the USB port snapped off the motherboard. I know I likely did some things (like charging it in the car and moving it around all the time, same with using it as an alarm clock) that likely contributed to this, but I want to make sure I can do whatever possible to avoid this again.

Therefore, do y'all have any suggestions? Thanks!

The charger I had for my Samsung Moment fits easier in the charge port than the charger thta came with the evo so I use it. I don't know if it will help but it really snaps in with a lot less force.

Maybe find a charger that fits better.

When I leave the phone charging on my nightstand, the cable obviously dangles downward, could that be an issue? I'm also mostly using 3rd party cables since the original one is soooo lose.
