Help USB Port trouble

When I try connecting my Triumph to my laptop it starts to connect but then stops. My phone is rooted but I'm not sure if that's whats causing the problem.

Rooting may have caused the problem. Never hurts to try another USB port and look on the Motorola website to see if there are any drivers you need to install

Rooting would have nothing to do with the usb.

I'm having the same problem as he is ... and I'm sure he meant the Triumph USB port.

Is there any fix for a damaged port?

Does the HDMI port function as a charger/data connector as does the USB?

No, you can not charge or access data via HDMI port.
Strictly a/v out.
