Help USB storage vs SD. So confused.

Hello all,

I know there are more than a fee posts about this topic in the forums already.I read through several, but they were over my head. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with a 32GB SD card. I keep getting error messages that I am almost out of space, but there are over 29GB showing empty on the SD card. Best I can tell, all the stuff I "moved" to the SD card are actually in the USB storage area, whatever that is. My questions are,

1) How can I move stuff to the actual SD card?
2) How I can make the SD card the default path for new stuff to be stored to?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I too have this issue. What is odd is that it says I have 1.97GB device memory, and then 11.5 USB storage. What is this storage? Surely it's built into the phone, and therefore how is it different to device memory listed above.

Also when I move applications to SD card, they are also moved to USB, I also am confused about this and have read a few posts but am none the wiser...

The "device memory" 2 gb partition is reserved for apps/games and their data. Unless the phone is rooted, no user will have access to that partition.

The larger "USB" >11 gb partition is reserved for everything else (Music, videos, downloads, pictures, etc.).

Not sure if a default installation path can be set. You may be able to to transfer apps to the external SD card with App2SD.
