Help USB suddenly constantly disconnecting

I've had my S2 for a couple of months with many of the minor issues on this forum but no major ones until today!

I connected via the supplied USB cable today and started transferring file to my SD card, all was well for a couple of minutes then it disconnected, reconnecting a few seconds later. Now every time I try and go to SD card or phone memory it disconnects and then reconnects a few seconds later. I have tried exploring through KIES with same result and rebooting phone, confirming nothing strange or new running but still the same result. I can see the memory when it initially comes up but disconnect whenever I go to open it.

Any one experienced this one or have any ideas how to resolve ? I have copied files using external card reader but am stuck as to how to access phone memory.

TIA

When you say SD card which one are you talking about? While the phone is mounted on the desktop try running error checking to see if there bad clusters or problems.

Instead of plugging the phone in directly. Go to settings, Wireless and Networks, USB utilities, hit connect Storage THEN plug the usb cable in, then hit Connect Storage again, ok (yeah it's bit convoluted). This will cause the phone storage to appear as disk drives on the desktop not a 'device'

Like you would on the desktop choose the drive, right click, properties, Tools, error checking if you are on a windows machine.

Thanks for your input DaveSyd. It happens for both the mounted SD card and the phones internal memory and I suspect now that it may be a Kies issue since updating to the latest version. I can access photos and do backups but as soon as I try and look at media, either music or video the connection drops and restarts. I can access fine using USB debugging mode which also mounts as devices so I have a workaround which tbh actually works better, its just annoying that Samsung seem to have left so many bugs in their connection software which actually makes itunes (which I hate!) seem good.
