Ok I cant seem to get my phone to connect to my PC... I dowloaded this driver:
SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe

They didnt seem to have any effect, I have tried it with debug on and off with no help, I selected mass storage and that didnt help, I have tried it in all 6 USB slots on my laptop with the wire that came with the phone. I have also tried it on Ubuntu with no success! all it ever does is charge the phone lol.

Please help! I have windows XP sp3 and xUbuntu installed on the laptop I would perfer it to work with windows but I will take either!

p.s. dont tell me I need to select usb from the notification bar... as that option never appears.

Try using a windows 7, no problem here. I don't know if your usb port is 1.0 and the phone is 2.0, that could be it too. If none of this work, try resetting your phone. I never use any driver.

For a Non Rooted Phone to tether it for (use as a Internet Device) you will need PDANet from the Market.. you will however have to goto the settings/applications/development section and turn on the USB debugging, or Turn off if you want to access the SD Card. Hope this Helps..

You will also have to install the PDANet Drivers from the web u can download and save them to the sd card and copy them to your computer...

Extract the phones SD card and put it in a SD card adapter and see if your PC sees it.

Or just extract and remount.

Ok I tried an SD card from a old phone I had, It worked fine in the old phone but nothing when I mount it in the droid phone. Then I formated the card and mounted it in the Droid and it still didnt work, but still works in the old phone. (the old phone is a LN510 Rumor touch)

Iam not using a USB hub, Just the wire that came with the phone straight into the usb port on the laptop.

starting to sound to me like you got a messed up phone, do you have a card reader and adapter so that you can check the new scdard on your computer. i am almost sure that isn't the problem though it sure sounds like the phone is messed up...

What happened when you mounted the OEM SD card in the old phone?

What does your Setting>SD Card and Phone Storage screen look like when OEM SD card is installed..

If neither SD card will read, and IF your screen ALWAYS says
Mount SD Card..

You have a broke phone.. pull out receipt.. grab all the stuff, box, bag, drive to wally world.. no sweat return/replace. Most WalMarts Phone Centers open at 9:00 AM..

I have a Samsung Galaxy Precedent and I found the site below, emailed the guy and I'm using my phone for internet on my computer now.

Ok I got it working now, It ended up being the USB cable..... but they worked for the old phone, but whatever. Got a new cable and it connected with no issue.

Thanks to everyone for all the help,
