Help USB tethering does not work ?

I have an Incredible S but have some problems with the USB tethering. When I connect my phone to the USB plug in my laptop and select "USB tethering", the laptop can't find the new hardware, and will not install any drivers.

Any one who can help ?

I have no problems when it comes to "Mount as a disk drive".

I have internet access from the phone, if that is what you mean. But getting internet access from the laptop, using the phone/tethering, wont work. I don't think it has something to do with the internet, but with my computer not being able to install the phone.

But as I wrote before - mounting as disk drive, works just fine.

I have found out, that I instead can use the "Portable WiFi hotspot", and it works just fine

Download and install HTC Sync from the HTC site (don't use the one on the SD card). That will install the necessary drivers to allow tethering.

I used the one on the SD card and it worked just fine as far as installing the drivers and USB tethering goes. Actually, I use USB tethering in the opposite way - at my work, I sometimes need fast connection to Internet on my Incredible as I can't use Wifi connection. So I use computer as a gateway to connect Incredible to internet. Works great.

I haven't yet tried the Sync function.

Download and install the HTC Sync software as suggested earlier - that will install the drivers you need.

If your carrier doesn't allow tethering without charging you more (like t-mobile for example) have a look at PDANet.... it's awesome.

I have to second PDANet, it's a great piece of software and the company is amazing. Plus the price is always right ($10).

When I switched from my BB to HTC Inc. they even switched my registration for free.

Reply. Most probably you PC OS not Windows, Mac or Linux. Android works only these three version if I am not mistaken. Connect it to Windows PC and configure the settings. I too had the problem but later it was restored. Further if your USB storage is in the tethering does not perform. I mean you must empty your USB storage before going for tethering.
