Root USB Tethering without PDANet and EasyTether

Hey guys,

Just wondering if there is a way to get USB tethering working without paying for the Sprint Hotspot service or using PDANet or Easytether.

I am on a rooted 2.2 evo and do have wireless tether working... But I am usually traveling when I need tethering and battery life is scarce. USB is a much more comfortable solution...

There is a section of doing wired tethering on 4G. Are you asking about tethering with 4G or 3G? That guide only shows how to do it with 4G, but I am pretty confident I can get something working on 3G as well if that is what you are looking for.
