Help USB vs Wireless Tether Issue (Linux)

OK, so I noticed that when using the native wired tether on the Bionic, I could not access certain sites. They seem to be ones with security of some sort, but I'm not sure what the security is (it's not as simple as https, as I can access https sites fine). Examples are www.mint.com and www.53.com, both of them banking/finance sites. What happens is the site just refuses to load (even before I log in, I can't even get to that point). However, if I use wireless tether to access the sites, I can get through fine.

Anyone know what's up? The OS of the computer is Ubuntu Linux.

Download Visualroute 2010 to you PC and try that. It will show you the data path, the hops you are making and if any data is lost. You can trace in both directions.

You may find your issue is a systematic one, meaning a combination of the phone and your service provider.

How about ... these financial sites do not want to allow access from a phone.

You could try setting the UAString ... see ... Set Browser UAString ... to Desktop and see if that had any impact.

But why does it only do it in usb tether with Linux? It is fine in wireless tether with any OS (mac, windows, Linux), and fine in wired tether with Windows (don't own a mac to check it with), but it balks at usb tether with Linux?

I'll try the link you suggested.

Thanks,

Mike

The formal technical name for my suggestion is ... "clutching for straws".
